Since 2017, our teams are located in two modern office buildings, fully equipped and reflective of the preferences and needs of our employees. What makes SAP in Bulgaria special is our strong culture of volunteering and our sustainable corporate social responsibility (CSR) policy.  

“Robotics for Bulgaria” program

SAP supports the development of LEGO robotics. In 2015, the “Robotics for Bulgaria” program began, enhancing our long-standing support in this initiative. The program aims to boost the interest of students in science and technology, while simultaneously providing them with an opportunity for teamwork. Mentor teams (consisting of two teachers working at the same school) receive support for establishing robotics teams in their schools.

Close to IT education

SAP supports several educational initiatives in Bulgaria that target children in fourth grade to students during their fourth year at university. The initiatives help students get a better IT education and be more successful in their career development. On a voluntary basis, a community of SAP colleagues organizes various activities such as student practice sessions, programming in schools, university courses, and scholarship programs.

Scholarship program "Study iT First"

The aim of the scholarship program Study iT First is to support IT students at the beginning of their higher education. Receiving mentorship from an experienced professional from the field of software development can help students with developing practical projects and discovering additional sources of information and courses.

“Knowledge for Success” Program

Knowledge for Success supports initiatives that are aimed at developing young people with limited access to financial and educational resources. The program’s main purpose is to present opportunities for career development and counseling for students during their secondary education. It also aims to transform the school library into a place that stimulates the desire for learning and enhances students’ performance.

SAP GeekyCamp

SAP GeekyCamp is a programming school for high-school students. Lecturers are volunteers from the company. Participation in the school is free, and 85 students have attended the school so far. Participants are pre-selected based on an online test that covers programming, mathematics, algorithms, and logical tasks. The intensive training covers the basic knowledge needed to develop an assigned project. The students develop their ideas with a mentor from SAP.

"Month of Service" program

Every SAP employee has the opportunity to spend one work day volunteering each year. Our colleagues mostly use their voluntary day during our Month of Service initiative and go volunteering together with their teams. The activities range from painting kindergartens, building and improving ecogardens, helping the elderly prepare for winter, and many other activities. In 2016, 242 colleagues participated in the initiative.

Be active for nature

During the summer of 2017, we organized a local challenge to walk 378 km over the course of two months, which equals the length of Bulgarian seacoast. For every colleague who walked this distance, the company sponsored the planting of 10 trees. The results: 50 million steps and 1,022 trees were planted by colleagues during their day for voluntary work.
