My team is new, half of it is made of SAP veterans while the other half are new team members. Each team member was also born in a different country! The diversity of experience and cultures creates excellent learning opportunities for all.

Eitan Behar

Eitan joined SAP Customer Experience in 2020 and works within the SAP Customer Data Cloud  team in Israel where he has been living for the last 20 years having moved there from Cuba.

“More than 10 years ago I was working in a different job and a customer asked our team to integrate into their SAP system to get all the data we needed. It was the first time I heard about SAP. For the duration of this project, we were using SAP APIs, reading its documentation, getting support when needed. We completed the project by certifying the application to be SAP NetWeaver compliant. Back then, I had such a good experience with the SAP team I worked with that I said to myself, “Maybe one day I will be lucky to work with these people”.

I am an engineer; I enjoy creating software that will be used by people. When I learned about a role, that was about creating services that will be used by a very large amount of people, with the latest cloud technologies and in a fun and creative work environment I knew I had to apply. And that’s how I came to SAP.

A typical day is mixed bag of very diverse types of activities. Talking to the team to understand how we are progressing with current tasks, debugging code to understand how a flow works, doing code reviews, checking that our tests are green or fixing them, helping other teams or asking for help from other teams, investigating customers issues or questions, designing new functionalities, writing code, attending or giving knowledge transfer sessions. We believe in the agile development principles, so, besides the usual ceremonies, we keep ourselves focused on the tasks with the right priorities.

We are cool, talented people. We use modern cloud technologies to develop services in a high-performance environment. As a new team lead, for me it’s crucial to understand what the team is doing. Dig deep into the internals of processes and flows. Get to know each one of the team members at a personal level and help them work together in a more efficient way. It’s a long journey, but I feel we are on the right path. There is a great satisfaction seeing the team to deliver as a team effort, while at the same time, individuals can explain and support their own work.

My team is new, half of it is made of SAP veterans while the other half are new team members. Each team member was also born in a different country! The diversity of experience and cultures creates excellent learning opportunities for all.

Outside of working hours I am a mountain biker at heart. Every Saturday I take my bike and join friends for a ride, enjoying nature and a good company. There are plenty of bike trails near to my city, from all kinds of varieties, from arid and dry riverbanks, to single tracks through the woods. When I miss the sea, a short drive west will take me to the Mediterranean beaches.
