Quality Assurance Lead for SAP Customer Experience (CX)
At SAP, we build breakthroughs, together.
It’s a privilege to work for a company that holds high ethical standards when it comes to maintaining equality of opportunities and being actively involved in social and community projects.
I first heard about SAP from a friend and the most significant part I was impressed by was the huge scale of the user base. Even a tiny glitch in the system can affect thousands of users and this means something. So, in October 2018 I joined as a Quality Assurance Engineer.
Working in QA attracted me because I always hated the moments in which I would buy stuff and it would fall apart in my hands. In my career I have I had the opportunity to see how the field of software quality assurance has evolved from manual testing to automation testing of complex systems.
My role is to incorporate quality into our team’s daily work. I work with developers to put comprehensive test plans together and test and release the best product we can under challenging constraints.
It can be very challenging to define what quality is, arguing with people on what quality is all about and how it can be measured. The technical challenges are also significant. It is always difficult to define the test matrix for such a complex system and its flexibility always leads to further complexity which may be tricky to estimate.
I am happy to say that the team spirit and levels of trust are high. This is very significant and affects our daily work. Leading people to success by encouraging them and supporting their growth leads to a commitment that would not be achieved in other ways.
As well as being a leader in quality assurance I am also a father of three which also comes with its own challenges! My daughter Ori was born four years ago and after a lot of medical challenges we discovered that she was born with a rare genetic syndrome called CdLS. It was shocking news and as a family we had to “evaluate and rebuild”. My wife and I understood that our real journey as a family had just begun.
Now, I often look at my daughter watching her favorite cartoon show online. She knows how to restart the playback again, again and again and she can do it for hours and laughs along with the characters as they play. I look at her and think to myself, what if she is OK and we are the ones that actually need to be “fixed"?
It’s important to me to make the world a better place for my daughter and other kids just like her and SAP’s promise is to make the world run better and improve people’s lives. It’s a privilege to work for a company that holds high ethical standards when it comes to maintaining equality of opportunities and being actively involved in social and community projects.
